Depot General Manager (Glossop)

Your entrepreneurial spirit and vision in directing business functions will assist in maintaining relationships with clients, generating new business, increasing staff productivity, improving service, and ensuring sustainability.

As the Depot General Manager, you will possess meticulous attention to detail with visionary leadership. You will take ownership of the sites operational and financial goals and objectives, which are linked to Direct Express Logistics (DEXL) Nationwide Express pallets (NEP) overall business plan.

The principal purpose is to achieve cost-effective operations whilst supporting the development of revenue growth in order to improve the company’s profitability, along with being legally responsible for ensuring the company operates in accordance with legislation, and fully compliant with all health and safety regulations.    

 

·         Held a similar position with a recognised company for a minimum of 5 years

·         Be proficient in analysing accounting and financial date.

·         Create, review and implement effective business planning.

·         Perform effectively despite sudden deadlines and changing priorities.

·         I.T competent – with a good knowledge of both Microsoft Word and Excel.  

·         Develop and maintain a health & safety culture to ensure the well-being of all employees.  

·         Transport manager CPC holder with a full understanding of transport regulations.

·         Overall positive attitude that will contribute to a better working environment.

 

·         Hold weekly meetings with key staff including business development managers.

·         Oversee the depots purchase order system. 

·         Improve customer retention by developing relationships with the depot’s key customers. 

·         Raise the companies’ profile by attending networking events.

·         Recruitment, training, monitoring, motivation and discipline of staff.

·         Conduct regular meetings and debriefs with staff and management.

·         Monitor sickness/holiday entitlement through the People HR system.

·         Monitoring, reporting of collection and delivery performance.

·         Key account issues requiring senior management input.  

·         Management of vehicle insurance claims.  

·         Depot Security.  

·         Play a significant role in long - term planning geared towards operational excellence.

·         Ensure all deadlines (Trunk departure etc.) are adhered to through the shift managers.

·         Conduct appraisals for all shift managers and supervisors.  

·         Identify training needs and facilitate relevant training where needed.  

·         Identification and development of promotable staff.

·         Conduct risk assessment and document evidence for reference.

·         Ensure any near misses are recorded and accident book is updated and review entries.

·         It is a requirement that both first aiders and fire marshals are available on all shifts, and that maintenance of all plant and machinery is up to date.     

·         Plan safe working practices and make changes if needed.

 

·         Communication that will allow you to inform staff what is expected from them, with good listening and problem-solving skills.

·         Confidence, patience, politeness, tact and diplomacy, when dealing with difficult situations.

·         Be motivational and have an ability to manage, supervise and lead the team. 

·         Creative thinking, to be able to come up with new ideas to improve service standards.

·         An ability to work well under pressure with organisational and planning proficiency.

·         Good personal presentation, especially when working with customers face to face.

·         A commitment to personally improve on an ongoing basis.

·         The ability to see employees’ point of view from several different perspective.

Class 1 & Class 2 Drivers (Thorne)

We are looking for experienced Class 1 & Class 2 multi drop delivery drivers aged 25+ to join our core fleet of employed drivers based from our Thorne depot.

Knowledge of the local area is an advantage.

Good organisation skills are required and customer service.

You need to be honest, reliable and punctual.

This is a full time permanent position.

As part of this role you will be expected to make various stops a day around a specific postcode area. You will be responsible for loading the vehicle in order ensuring all deliveries and collections are made each day.

You will need to have been driving at least 2 years with no more than 6 points on your licence and have a clean CRB

Class 1 Drivers (Nottingham)

We are looking for experienced Class 1 multi drop delivery drivers aged 25+ to join our core fleet of employed drivers based from our Nottingham depot.

Knowledge of the local area is an advantage.

Good organisation skills are required and customer service.

You need to be honest, reliable and punctual.

This is a full time permanent position.

As part of this role you will be expected to make various stops a day around a specific postcode area. You will be responsible for loading the vehicle and ensuring all deliveries and collections are made each day.

You will need to have been driving at least 2 years with no more than 6 points on your licence and have a clean CRB

Accounts Assistant (Thorne)

Accounts Assistant will be responsible for 1 depot. This is a fast paced role so you will need to be able to do many tasks to meet deadlines every month.

We are looking for someone who is ambitious and is looking for a new challenge.

Main duties will include

Purchase Ledger, posting purchase ledger invoices to supplier account to meet month end cut off dates, coding of purchase ledger invoices, making sure these are accurate and entered onto the accounts package, entering of all payments from each bank on to Sage and reconciling supplier accounts to statements.

Sales Ledger, Process all receipts from customers on a daily basis, maintaining regular direct debit collections, weekly and monthly, chasing debt on a regular basis to keep debtors up to date, reconciling banks each month and invoicing done weekly and monthly through various networks and imported into Sage via a csv file.

Attributes

Accounts Assistant should have comprehensive knowledge of computer accounting software systems preferably Sage 50 Accounts.

Strong Team Player, Some accounting experience in a similar role, High interpersonal skills and be good at communicating to customers and peers.

Full-time hours: 08:30 - 17:00

Class 2 Drivers (Glossop)

We are looking for experienced Class 2 multi drop delivery drivers aged 25+ to join our core fleet of employed drivers based from our Glossop depot.

Knowledge of the local area is an advantage.

Good organisation skills are required and customer service.

You need to be honest, reliable and punctual.

This is a full time permanent position.

As part of this role you will be expected to make various stops a day around a specific postcode area. 

Other main responsibilities include

Carry out a vehicle check

Check vehicle load security

Liaise with office and warehouse staff to confirm departure time.

Manoeuvre vehicles around as required by the warehouse manager.

Deliveries to be done in a timely manner, ensuring the safe transportation.

Collect freight from collection points in a timely manner, ensuring the safe transportation.

Conform to collection point health and safety rules.

Electric pump trucks provided

Valid CPC required

Transport Planner (Thorne)

Due to expansion within our pallet network and groupage operations, we have a vacancy for a Pallet Network Transport Planner;

·         To allocate deliveries and collections to our fleet of vehicles

·         Driver allocation

·         Customer interaction – manage electronic POD system

·         Liaise with warehouse, manage returned freight

·         Communicate with the customer service team

·         06:00 to 16:00 Monday to Friday (times are approximate)

Previous pallet network experience is essential, and if you have any groupage experience this would be an advantage.

 

The candidate - 

PC Literate and knowledge of pallet planning systems an advantage (full training will be given)
Strong local geographical knowledge of the DN postcode area
Able to route vehicles for customer deliveries and collections
Clear communication skills, dealing with both customers & drivers
Ability to react quickly in a fast-moving environment is essential
Attention to detail
Multi drop and groupage experience would be an advantage
 

Salary and package will be dependant on experience, being discussed at the interview
